Fr. Odorik Badurina’s promenade
Promenade by the sea at the foot of Komrčar forest park
All lovers of evening walks along the promenade by the sea should definitely not miss the promenade of Fr. Odorik Badurina.
The promenade at the foot of the old city walls and the Komrčar forest park, charmed by the beauty of our island, were built by Prince Alois von Liechtenstein of the Habsburg Monarchy back in the 20th century.
The Komrčar forest park is an essential walk for many visitors, and stands out as one of the most beautiful forest parks in the Mediterranean and the largest city park in Europe, because with its 12 ha of green space, it greatly exceeds the area of the core of the old town of Rab.
Take a walk along the paths of untouched nature !
Premužić trail number 1
The trail is 8 kilometers long, mostly rugged and mostly passes through the shade of forest areas. This trail can take you to the highest peak on the island of Rab, the 408-meter-high Kamenjak peak in Mundanije, where there is a viewpoint of Dr. M. Tomašić, which offers a beautiful panoramic view of the old city center and its four bell towers. You can also take the path to Fruga, a rare and unexpected combination of a natural forest and a karst valley. The forest part consists of holm oak forests, while the Fruška lokva, the largest puddle on the island of Rab, is located in the valley.
Hiking trail Rab – Maman
With its length of 14 kilometers, this trail starts at the foot of the walls of the old city center of Rab and passes through the bay of St. Eufemije, to the village of Kampor, from where the path leads all the way to the uninhabited islet of Maman in the village of Supetarska Draga. At the end of the Eufemia bay, there is a monastery of the same name with two small churches and a museum for all those who want to get to know the history of these areas better. For all lovers of privacy and peace, you can find it on the uninhabited islet of Maman, where there are two pristine sandy beaches, and the seabed on its southwest side is rich in diverse vegetation and rock formations, which makes it especially attractive for diving enthusiasts.
Premužić trail number 2
The path, which is not suitable for cyclists and is increasingly popular among hiking enthusiasts, will take you to, according to many, the most attractive part of the island of Rab – its western coast. It is 15 kilometers long and along its paths you can enjoy the beauty of the Kalifronta peninsula and its Dundo forest, one of the largest holm oak forest communities in Europe. Also, on its way you will reach the most attractive bays on the island such as Ćifnata, Gožinka and Matovica, so this area is particularly interesting for boating tourists. This path is suitable for everyone who likes to enjoy a slightly easier walk, and along it you can come across catering facilities where you can refresh yourself with cold drinks and try the specialties of Mediterranean gastronomy.
